ALPENA — Earl Lewandowski and Brittany Rouleau have invited the community to stop by and enjoy their spooky decorations on Tawas Street in Alpena.
Lewandowski told The News that he is a “huge fan of pretty much every holiday.” He said that he and Rouleau started decorating the outside of their house and the sidewalk with skeletons, ghosts, gravestones, and an array of pumpkin decor in August.
“Every day we do a little bit, but for the most part, it’s complete,” Lewandowski added. “We start pretty early just so we can get everything done.”
Lewandowski said that he made a lot of their decorations by hand and have collected other decorations over the years.
“This year I made a lot by hand. We make a lot of our stuff, that takes a little bit of time,” he said.

Two tall skeletons are seen standing on either side of the sidewalk in front of Lewandowski’s house.
Lewandowski explained that he and Rouleau will add to their Halloween decoration collection once the “sales hit.”
“We’ve added more and more every year,” he added. “We probably will continue to add more and more.”
Rouleau stated that they’ve had community members drop off decorations, as well.
“A buddy of mine, he dropped off an inflatable decoration,” Lewandowski said. “He’s like, ‘I don’t need it.'”
Lewandowski said that he has invited the public to stop by, take photos, and enjoy the spooky ambience because he wanted to give back to the community. He stated that in the past three years he’s lived in his home, he’s seen more and more neighbors follow suit and embrace the Halloween spirit.
“More and more neighbors are starting to decorate too. It’s nice to see it spread,” Lewandowski added. “The first year, I think we were the only house that was decorated. Now, there’s six or seven that now decorate every year. It’s nice to see more and more people doing it too.”
Lewandowski and Rouleau said that people can stop by to take photos even if they are not home. Lewandowski said it’s open at night and the only thing they ask of visitors is to be respectful of their home and of their neighbors. He added that they will likely have their decorations up until probably Nov. 1.
For Halloween, Lewandowski and Rouleau said that they will pass out candy for trick-or-treaters. They also are already preparing for Christmas and decorating their house for the winter holidays.
