Lunch and Learn series starts Wednesday at MyMichigan
ALPENA — MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena will host its “Take Time for You” series at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 1, according to a MyMichigan Health press release.
The he Lunch and Learn series has three parts and will feature MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena providers, including Shelby Crawford, M.D., of the WellSport Sports Medicine program, Mina Salib, M.D., of the Spine and Pain program, and William Hitzelberger, D.O., of the Alpena Cancer Center.
Each workshop begins at noon and lasts an hour on their respective days. Lunch will also be provided.
According to MyMichigan Health, the workshop series is hosted by the Community Outreach Committee of the MyMichigan Health Foundation’s Development Council serving Alpena.
The he first session’s theme, on Wednesday, is “Do You Know Your Non-Surgical Orthopedic Options?” Crawford, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, will lead the session and discuss the spectrum of treatment options for orthopedic issues. Attendees will also learn about non-surgical interventions for conditions such as arthritis, strains, sprains, contusions, fractures, joint pain, and overuse-related injuries.
Salib will lead the second session, “Pain and You: When is Medical Intervention Needed?” on Oct. 8, and will discuss the impact of untreated chronic pain, according to the release. He will present the latest treatment options for pain management, which incorporates a variety of strategies such as physical therapy, minimally invasive procedures, and medications.
MyMichigan Health explains that the series will conclude on Oct. 15, when Hitzelberger will lead a “Treating Cancer in Northeast Michigan” session where he will address the challenges and advancements in cancer care specific to rural areas. Topics in the session will include recent changes in cancer treatment, current trends in the region, and more.
Sessions are held in the auditorium at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Pre-registration is required due to limited space.
