Harrisville man rescued from house fire

On Aug. 20 at approximately 6:15 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post and deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Barlow Road in Gustin Township for a fully engulfed residential fire, according to a Friday press release. Law enforcement officers received information that the homeowner and his dog may still be inside the home. Upon arrival, the officers made entry and located an 85-year-old man and his dog, disoriented in the smoke-filled house. They were able to escort the man and his dog out of the house to safety. The MSP was assisted by the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln Fire Department, and Mikado Fire Department.
