Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council to meet on Aug. 19

ALPENA — The Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, 500 W. Fletcher St., Alpena. The public is invited to attend.

The meeting agenda includes regular council business, an update from the Lake Carrier’s Association, a presentation by Stephanie Gandulla on the Monohansett shipwreck, and updates from NOAA staff on Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary programs, upcoming events, and research.

Warfighter Scuba representative, Kevin Sheard, will present on the nonprofit’s upcoming project in Alpena. Warfighter Scuba serves veterans and gold star families affected by the traumas of war through scuba.

Public comment will take place at approximately 7:50 p.m.
