Aug. 18

7:42 a.m. A report of three cows loose along the road in Briley Township was made. Contact was made with the owner of the cattle.

10:13 a.m. A subject working in the woods called to report a male subject stopped and was threatening him; MSP Trooper and MCSO deputy responded to the scene. The subject left prior to their arrival. Investigation ongoing at this time.

2:12 p.m. A resident of Avery Township came into the MCSO lobby to report her neighbor’s dog on her property. A deputy spoke with the owner of the dog.

5:38 p.m. A trooper conducted a traffic stop in Hillman Township. The motor home did not have insurance. The driver was cited and the motor home was towed to be impounded.

10:30 p.m. Deputies conducted a welfare check requested on a female in Hillman Township. The female was found to be fine and deputies cleared without incident.

Aug. 19

1:47 p.m. A fire was reported in Briley Township. The reporting party saw a large amount of smoke coming from the tree line and could not see what was burning. Tri Township Fire Department responded and discovered somebody burning a brush pile.

6:07 p.m. A deputy came across a male on the side of the road with a blanket over him. It was discovered the male had a confirmed warrant out of MCSO. The male was placed under arrest and lodged at ACJ.

10:29 p.m. Dispatch received multiple 911 calls regarding a single vehicle rollover in Albert Township. Albert Township Fire & EMS, MCSO deputies, and a MSP trooper responded to the scene. 1 male was placed under arrest for OWI after an investigation and Twin Lakes Towing recovered the vehicle.

Aug. 20

7:45 a.m. A vehicle deer accident was reported in Briley Township; a report was taken.

12:57 p.m. An MSP Trooper made a traffic stop in Briley Township; the subject had an active warrant out of Montmorency County and was lodged in Alpena County Jail.

9:12 p.m. A vehicle on the side of the road was reported in Hillman Township; a deputy arrived on scene and found a male subject with the vehicle experiencing vehicle issues. The deputy stayed on scene until the subject was able to go on their way.

Aug. 21

10:03 a.m. Deputies were notified of an erratic driver in Vienna Township; a deputy drove the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.

5:01 p.m. Dispatch was notified someone had lost their dog in Albert Township; a short while later another caller reported they had found the dog and it was returned to the owner.

Aug. 22

8:20 a.m. An MCSO officer transported two subjects to Montmorency County Courthouse and from Alpena County Jail for court.

11:39 a.m. A report of men cutting trees too close to the road was made via 911. A DNR CO advised that they can cut the trees on their property to the road.

2:22 p.m. A deputy responded to the Hammond rd. area in Briley Township for the report of gun shots fired. The deputy checked the area and did not hear gunshots.

Aug. 23

2:45 p.m. Subjects riding on ORV trails came upon a truck with a male subject slumped over in the driver’s seat. A deputy responded to the area but the truck was gone upon his arrival.

7:50 p.m. An elderly female refusing to leave a neighboring residence was reported in Albert Township. Deputies were dispatched but while en route, the female left and went back home.

10:57 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to a barking dog complaint in Montmorency Township. The owner of the dog agreed to bring the dog indoors for the remainder of the night.

Aug. 24

3:11 p.m. A resident in Hillman Township came across a loose dog in the roadway. Unable to find the owner, the resident brought it to a residence believed to be the owners and tied it up to the porch with a leash. A deputy was able to locate the owner, the dog was at the correct house.

8:15 p.m. Deputies responded to an erratic driver complaint. A vehicle description and plate were provided to dispatch. The deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
