ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) is proud to pledge $25,000 in support of Northeast Michigan PACE. PACE stands for Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly and is a nationwide health care program that combines medical care and social support for those age 55 or older. The philosophy of the organization is rooted in the theory that the well-being of seniors with long-term care needs is better served in the community whenever possible.
PACE is an alternative to nursing home care that aims to keep older individuals living in the community utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, including inpatient and primary care, home health and home care, transportation, rehab, medical equipment and more.
The credit union’s donation will support the Union Hall room where members of PACE can attend community gatherings or educational workshops and seminars.
“AAACU is proud to support PACE as they strive to preserve the dignity and enhance the quality of life of older individuals in our communities by meeting them where they are to provide them with the care they need,” a press release from the credit union explained.
AAACU’s donation to support Northeast Michigan PACE is made possible by the credit union’s Community Investment Fund. These funds are comprised of dollars donated back into our communities thanks to credit union members who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically. The credit union pledged to donate $9 annually for each enrolled account, and in 2025, AAACU will donate up to $297,600 back into the communities they serve.
AAACU is a state-chartered credit union with membership eligibility open to any resident in the state of Michigan. As of May 31, 2025, AAACU provides service to 48,163 members with total assets equal to $899,656,746.
