Nautical City Festival continues in Rogers City

The festival officially began Tuesday evening with the Sailor’s Memorial at the Lakeside Park Band Shell. The Nautical City Festival continues with activities all week, through Sunday, with the Grand Parade at 12:30 p.m., cornhole tournament at 2 p.m., and fireworks at 10 p.m.

ROGERS CITY — The Nautical City Festival is happening this week in Rogers City, with plenty of activities for the whole family.

Today’s events include Sidewalk Art from 10 a.m. to noon at Courthouse Square (chalk provided), yoga at 11 a.m. at beach behind Lakeside Park, followed by kids’ yoga from 1 to 2 p.m., kids’ craft and face painting from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the big tent, Kiddie Parade at 6 p.m. (lineup at Westminster Presbyterian Church), carnival rides and games from 6 to 10 p.m., and Teen Night from 7 to 10 p.m. at the big tent.

Thursday events include Bingo from 1 to 4 p.m. in the big tent, carnival rides and games from 4 to 10 p.m., Battle of the Bartenders from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the big tent, Trivia from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the big tent ($10 per person), and Jedi Mind Trip from 8 to 11 p.m. in the big tent, for ages 18 and older, $10 admission.

Friday events include the PIDL used book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., quarry tours at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m, a giant equipment display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Calcite, Rosco the Clown from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Courthouse Square, a juried arts and crafts show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Courthouse Square, along with a food court. In the big tent from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., food will be offered by Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe and Detroit Franke’s Wood-fired brick oven pizza. A bloody mary and mimosa bar will be available from 11 a.m to 1 p.m., the same time as a scavenger hunt. The carnival will be open from noon to 10 p.m., a fossil dig will be at 1 p.m. at South Shore Park, Bingo in the big tent from 1 to 4 p.m., teen pickleball from 4:30 to 7 p.m., and Bobbing for Piranhas and High Speed from 8 p.m. to midnight, $10 admission for ages 18 and older.

Presque Isle County Historical Museum is sponsoring a tour of Carmeuse Limestone quarry (Calcite) at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, available at the museum gift shop. Call 989-734-0123 for more information.

Saturday events include the 42nd Nautical City Run/Walk for Health, with the 1-mile at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m. at Lakeside Park. The men’s and women’s slow pitch softball tournaments start at 8 a.m. at various fields. The Knights of Columbus Scholarship Breakfast will be from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic School. A Spitzer tournament starts at 9 a.m. at Rogers City Servicemen’s Club, PIDL book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Kiddie Games at 9:30 a.m. at Lakeside Park Bandshell, with Rosco the Clown from 10 a.m. to noon, quarry tours at 10 a.m. and noon, giant display from 10 a.m. to noon, car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Westminster Park, craft show and food court from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., strawberry shortcake and ice cream social from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Westminster Church, horseshoe tournament at noon by big tent, archery and shooting from noon to 3 p.m. at P.I. Sportsmen’s Club, carnival from noon to 10 p.m., pet show at 12:30 p.m. at Lakeside Park, Nowicki’s Brat Eating Contest at 2 p.m. at the big tent, 2:30 to 7 p.m. pickleball, classic car cruise at 3 p.m., and Tommy K and the Rock Show from 8 p.m. to midnight, 18 and older, $10 admission, at the big tent.

The museum is also sponsoring a Memorial Park Cemetery tour on Saturday with reenactors from the Rogers City Community Theatre featuring interesting people from Rogers City. Sunday events include men’s and women’s softball finals at 8 a.m. at The Hole, a breakfast from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius, P.I. Sportsmen’s Club chicken barbecue dinner from 10:30 a.m. until sold out, craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., carnival noon to 10 p.m., Grand Parade at 12:30 p.m., cornhole tournament at 2 p.m., fireworks at 10 p.m.
