The Sanborn Township and Hubbard Lake fire departments responded to a structure fire on Gries Road in Herron this afternoon. A tanker from the Combat Readiness Training Center was also called to the scene.

Michigan State Police personnel blocked off a portion of the road while firefighters worked to put out the fire. Three individuals and a dog were able to escape the residence safely.

The cause of the fire was not clear at the scene.
