The City of Alpena has reached new union contract agreements with a pair of its employee groups.

Both agreements will be effective dating back to July 1 through June 30, 2028.

The highlights of the new International Fire Fighter Association, Alpena Fire Department include:

· Wage increases of 4% annually in 2025, 2026, and 2027.

· Increase in food allowance.

· Increase in retention stipend for employees with more than five years of service.

· Clean up wording for promotional process.

· Allow employees to take bereavement time at a later time if the memorial service is delayed

The highlights of the new Steelworkers – City of Alpena Clerical Unit include:

· Wage increases of 4% annually in 2025, 2026, and 2027.

· Created a new vacation tier for employees with 15 years of service.

· New Year’s Eve will now be a full day off.

· Bring clerical group in line with other employee groups by increasing defined contribution 1% in 2026 and 1% in 2027.

· Increase bereavement time for family members of their spouse and any grandparent.
