ROGERS CITY — Theodore Beck, 64, was seen in Presque Isle County’s 89th district court on Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing. Beck is charged with four counts of sexual assault to the fourth degree for force or coercion.
Beck’s attorney, Matt Wojda, informed Judge Michael Ekdahl that there are some ongoing discovery issues and asked for the preliminary examination to be adjourned until July 15.
The original date set for the preliminary examination was June 10.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeremiah Wirgau accepted Wojda’s request on behalf of the people of the state of Michigan.
Ekdahl informed Beck that he has the right to a preliminary examination within 21 days of his arraignment, and that the new examination date would lie outside of that 21 days.
Beck agreed to waive his right to an examination within 21 days of his arraignment, and Ekdahl scheduled Beck’s next court appearance for July 15 at 10:30 a.m.
