ALPENA — The contractor for the City of Alpena will begin road striping today on the following roadways: Long Rapids Road from Bagley Street to MediLodge, Ripley Boulevard from M-32 to the railroad tracks, North 2nd Avenue from Fletcher Street to the 2nd Avenue Bridge, and Hueber Street from North 2nd Avenue to Ford Avenue.

“While the paint on the road dries quickly, it does not dry instantly,” a press release from the city said. “The city reminds residents to please be cautious and have patience during the striping process and to avoid driving over the lines being striped. Once the painting crews have collected the cones and left the site the paint can be considered dry.”

According to the press release, the city is not responsible for any road paint on vehicles that drive across freshly painted lines.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during this process, which should last one day unless weather or construction delays occur.
