POLICE BLOTTER: Montmorency County handles 129 complaints
Recent actions taken by law enforcement agencies in Northeast Michigan. This has been only lightly edited.

For the week of May 12 to 18, 129 complaints were handled resulting in the following:

May 12
6:39 a.m. A deer vehicle was reported in Montmorency Township; a report was taken.
10:05 a.m. A seasonal resident called to report a male subject he didn’t know inside his cabin in Briley Township. Deputies responded to the residence, no one was inside. They spoke with a neighbor and he reported it was the plumber the homeowners had hired to do some work.
2:37 p.m. A resident of Albert Township hit a gas line. Albert Township Fire Department, and DTE energy responded to the residence to repair the line.
9:13 p.m. A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Hillman Township. Elkie’s was called to assist with the removal of the vehicle from the roadway.
9:23 p.m. A male called 911 stating he needed a female removed from the property. Deputies responded and spoke with all parties involved. It was found that the female was living on the property and could not be removed. Both parties were separated and went to bed for the night.
9:27 p.m. While en route to the previous vehicle/deer accident, a deputy came across another. A report was taken.
May 13
7:05 a.m. A deer/vehicle accident was reported in Montmorency Township; a report was taken.
1:01 p.m. A resident of Hillman Township called to report his CO detector going off. Hillman Fire responded to find the battery needed to be changed.
1:28 p.m. A deer vehicle was reported in Albert Township; A report was taken.
7:34 p.m. A vehicle/deer accident was reported in Hillman township; a report was taken.
8:39 p.m. Deputies and Hillman Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into the woods. The female was okay and an accident report was taken.
May 14
5:48 a.m. A deputy came across a vehicle that seemed to be abandoned on the side of the road in Avery Township. The deputy found one male driver in the vehicle and cleared without incident.
6:07 a.m. A vehicle deer accident was reported in Avery Township; a report was taken.
4:47 p.m. Deputies responded to a complaint of multiple people staying in an Albert Township park, when the deputy arrived they found the park to be empty.
May 15
1:07 p.m. Dispatch received a message from Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office of a subject in their custody with warrants out of Montmorency County, a deputy picked up the subject and was lodged in Alpena County Jail.
7:42 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a commercial intrusion alarm at the county courthouse. Dispatch was able to reach a key holder and was advised there was a meeting going on at the time and that people were just entering/exiting the building for it.
May 16
10:24 a.m. An erratic driver was reported in Rust Township headed eastbound. A deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.
1:39 p.m. A phone line was taken down in Rust Township by a tractor. Hillman Fire responded to the scene.
3:26 p.m. A resident of Briley Township called to report the neighbor’s dogs in his yard. A deputy responded to speak with all parties involved.
3:44 p.m. The report of smoke in the air was made by a resident of Hillman Township. Hillman Fire Department responded to the area, it was a brush fire, they put the fire out.
5:07 p.m. A report of the woods on fire was made in Montmorency Township. MCSO deputies, and Hillman Fire Department all responded to the scene.
10:49 p.m. A private property accident was reported in the Village of Hillman. The parties were instructed to trade insurance information.
11:04 p.m. A deputy responded to a commercial intrusion alarm in Briley Township. A back door was found unlocked. The deputy walked through to clear the building and found it secure, clearing without incident.
May 17
3:31 a.m. Tri Township Fire Department/EMS and Hillman Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in Loud Township. All fire crews were able to get the fire under control, eventually fully extinguishing it.
11:49 a.m. A lost mushroom hunter was reported in Vienna Township. Vienna Fire Department responded to the scene. The subject was found and was fine. All units cleared without incident.
2:09 p.m. A vehicle on fire in Briley Township was reported by multiple 911 calls. Tri Township Fire and MCSO deputies all responded to the scene. No injuries were reported, all units cleared without incident.
2:17 p.m. A welfare check was requested on a Briley Township resident. A MCSO deputy went to the residence; the subject was found to be fine.
7:49 p.m. A deputy conducted a property check in Albert Township after the homeowner was notified that people may be accessing it. The deputy did not find anything suspicious and cleared.
11:44 p.m. Tri Township Fire/EMS, Hillman Fire Department, and MCSO deputies responded to a fully engulfed house fire in Albert Township.
May 18
11:46 a.m. A deputy came across a vehicle on the side of the road in Briley Township. The deputy stopped to assist but found out the subject already had a tow truck en route.
1:42 p.m. Multiple 911 calls reported a tree on a power line in Avery Township. The Tri Township Fire Department and PIE&G responded to the scene.
8:30 p.m. A welfare check was requested in Briley Township. Deputies attempted to contact/locate the subject but were unable to.
9:20 p.m. Tri Township Fire Department responded to a residence in Avery Township after a gas smell was reported inside of the structure.
