DHD4 board meets June 17

The District Health Department No. 4 (DHD4) will hold its monthly board meeting at 10 a.m. on June 17 in the Alpena DHD4 office. Anyone with questions regarding the monthly meeting should contact DHD4 at 989-354-4230.

Intergovernmental council meets June 12

The Alpena County Intergovernmental Council will meet at 6 p.m. on June 12 at the Alpena County Sheriff’s. This meeting is open to the public and public comment is welcome.

City reminder about lawn cutting

The City of Alpena would like to remind all property owners and tenants of City Ordinance requirements for lawn cutting. Lawns shall be cut by June 1, July 1, Aug. 1, Sept. 1, Oct. 1, and Nov. 1, or as many other times as necessary to maintain the property. In the event that grass length is in excess of 8 inches for residential and commercial properties, or 12 inches for industrial properties, City Staff will make contact with each property by knocking on the door or leaving a door hanger; grass not cut within five days will be cut by the City’s contractor with expenses billed to the property owner. To minimize clogging of the drainage system screens, please do not blow grass clippings into the street. Please also check property lines along abutting alleys to ensure all brush, weeds, or vegetation is trimmed to allow passage of vehicles.
