Brandon Hall, 33, examined for charges of stalking, malicious use of telecommunication services
ALPENA — Brandon Hall, 33, had his examination Tuesday for charges of aggravated stalking, internet communication with another to commit a crime, and two counts of malicious use of telecommunication services.
The examination was presided over by Judge Alan Curtis at the 88th district court in Alpena. Hall was represented by Attorney Bill Pfeifer, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Alyssa Miller represented the people of the state of Michigan.
The prosecution presented evidence of the charges in an examination of the victim.
The News does not name victims of stalking.
The victim started a relationship with Hall in 2020. When they separated in 2024, Hall began to harass her through texts, calls, and social media. The prosecution’s evidence covered the time period from the beginning of Aug. through the beginning of Nov. 2024. Hall was arrested Nov. 7.
The first exhibit shown by the prosecution was an explicit picture of the victim that Hall had posted on a public Snapchat story. The victim said she tried to get Hall to take the picture down and walked him through the steps over the phone, but Hall was under the influence and could not seem to figure it out.
In Aug. 2024, Hall had traveled to Houston to avoid charges in Alpena as well to end his life, the victim said. Hall would send pictures of fentanyl to the victim and said he planned to overdose. The victim said she called him 10 to 15 times while he was in Houston because she was concerned about his well-being and did not want him to die.
When Hall came back to Alpena, the victim posted a status on her Facebook account that he was back. Hall told her to take down the status via text message because he did not want to face charges, the victim said.
The prosecution presented evidence of a vulgar Facebook post that Hall had written where he accused the victim of abuse, cheating, and narcissism. The post was several pages long. The victim said that the claims he made in the post about her were not true.
Other evidence was shown of Hall texting the victim, threatening to post explicit images of her if she did not see him. There was also a screenshot of messages that Hall sent the victim via Snapchat that accused her of being with other men. The victim said he would send her messages like that when she would not respond to his calls or texts.
The victim said she had only seen Hall in person once in the time period between August and November. She was outside with her children in the yard when Hall came by on a bicycle under the influence. The victim said that a police report was made of the incident.
The victim’s current partner also came to the stand as a witness. He was shown the vulgar Facebook post by the prosecution and asked whether he had read it before.
The witness said that he believed he had seen it before but that Hall had sent/posted similar messages multiple times to him and the victim. The messages stopped once Hall was incarcerated, the witness said.
The examination ran long and the decision to bind over the charges to circuit court will be made by Judge Curtis on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
