HARRISVILLE — Nine members participated in this year’s White Pine Quilt Guild Challenge. They were required to use a specific fabric, a multi-colored batik on black background, and to incorporate at least one flying geese block in their project. The colorful, creative projects that evolved are truly amazing.

The Alcona County Library , Harrisville branch, displayed the entries in June and asked patrons to vote on their favorite. This year’s People’s Choice Award winner was Quilt #9 made by Sandy Krupka.

The annual challenge started in 2009. The projects were displayed the first two weeks in June at the Hollyhock Quilt Shoppe which allowed shoppers to vote for their favorite. The display location switched to the library in 2017 after Hollyhock closed.
