Alpena — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) recently presented Trevor Holowaty with a check for $500 in sponsorship of the Thunder Bay Thriller Gravel Cycling Race. 100% of all proceeds for this race go directly to supporting the Rock CF Foundation’s mission to continue empowering people with cystics fibrosis through programming, community events and advocacy that enhance their quality of life and raise public awareness about cystic fibrosis.

This year the race will be held on Aug. 29 with riders taking on the challenge of either a 15-, 31-, 65-, or 100-mile course through Northeast Michigan’s scenic countryside and trail systems.

The credit union is proud to support this local event that brings the community together around a great cause.

This donation is made possible by the credit union’s Community Investment Fund. These funds are comprised of dollars donated back into our communities thanks to credit union members who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically. The credit union pledges to donate $9 annually for each of these e-statements accounts. In 2026, AAACU will donate up to $320,406.00 back into the communities they serve.

AAACU is a state-chartered credit union with membership eligibility open to any resident in the state of Michigan. As of May 31, 2026, AAACU provides service to 50,021 members with total assets equal to $977,224,190.
