HILLMAN — The Brush Creek Mill in Hillman has reopened for this year, but needs volunteers to be open more often.
The mill is currently open Friday and Saturdays from noon until 4 p.m., it announced in a press release on Thursday.
If you and your friends or family would like to visit the Mill at other times, contact it and staff will schedule a time to let you in to explore and shop.
There are also new items for this year, such as honey, syrup, jam, coffee, candy, lake shirts, hats, and a variety of wonderful crafts from our vendors.
The mill’s hours are determined by the number of volunteers the mill has. When it has volunteers willing to be there, it is able to open.
The press release added that mill staff and volunteers work hard to schedule the days it hopes to be open, but it can also use more help. Adding more people who are able to offer a few hours of their time would be greatly appreciated. Everyone is welcome and training will be provided to new volunteers if needed.
The mill is also open to being flexible on the number of hours worked, maybe some split shifts, and the days and hours it is open. The press release says the mill wants to serve the public, but also wants to make it work for the valuable volunteers that it has.
For more information, please contact the mill or gift shop and let staff know what days and hours you are available and share any other thoughts you may have.
Without additional volunteers, the press release says, without more volunteers, it will not be able to be open as often as it would like.
The mill says as little as two hours or more each month will help to keep the wheel turning.
