ALPENA –Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) recently made a $500 donation to FIRST Robotics Team 5505, also known as Volts Squared, the Alpena High School Robotics Team.

In the nine years since their founding, Volts Squared has empowered students and prepared them for the future with an interdisciplinary STEM educational approach. Students learn the engineering and mechanical aspects of building a robot, as well as exercises in business, community involvement, and teamwork. They have also competed in the World Championships six times. Funds donated will support increased student involvement in the team and registration costs for competitions.

AAACU is proud to support our local students as they strive to further their education and prepare for their future careers with hands-on STEM experience.

This donation is made possible by the credit union’s Community Investment Fund. These funds are comprised of dollars donated back into our communities thanks to credit union members who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically. The credit union pledges to donate

$9 annually for each of these e-statements accounts. In 2026, AAACU will donate up to $320,406.00 back into the communities they serve.
