The annual Alpena Polar Plunge will be held on Saturday near the Water Street Commons in downtown Alpena. Check in for the plungers begins at 2 p.m. and a parade of the participants, many of which will be in costumes, will be at 3 p.m. The proceeds from the event will go to the Special Olympics of Michigan. The event coincides with the annual Alpena Ice Festival.
