Lifelong Learners have busy week planned

ALPENA — The Association of Lifelong Learners at Alpena Community College has multiple events this week. And have a host of events planned for January.

On Wednesday it is hosting a writing workshop series in the ACC’s Madeline Briggs Center in room 143 that begins at 11 a.m. and wraps up around 12:30 p.m.

This writing workshop series focuses on writing, sharing, and feedback. Everyone has stories, some are told, some are written, and some, like memoirs, are written to be shared with others.

MaryAnn Krajnik Crawford coordinated the event and she has been a personal journal writer and teacher of writing for many years.

The event is slated to begin atThe minimum number of attendees for the event is three and the maximum is 12.

On Thursday, the group will enjoy a lunch and learn about the history and automation at the Chee Peng Thai and Chinese Cuisine in Alpena. The James Thao’s family has owned Chee Peng and been a beloved choice for quality Chinese and Thai food for 21 years. James utilizes automation in his kitchen and his ordering process.

The event is slated to begin at noon and last until about 1:30 p.m. People will need to pay for their lunch buffets,

On Friday, people can learn more about how the passing of the Big, Beautiful Bill will impact people’s pocketbooks and the economy. The event is called Trump-o-nomics and will cover the bill’s potential impact on human services, such as SNAP, WIC, after school programs, the Great Start Collaborative, and school success. There will also be discussions about the negotiated Michigan State Budget Resolution, passed at the last minute.

The event will be held in ACC’s Madeline Briggs Center in room 140 and it begins at 10 a.m. and concludes at about 11 a.m.

Also, the Lifelong Learners announced that it has implemented a system that allows people to register for Lifelong Learner’s programs online. People will still be able to register with the form included with their program guide.
