On Dec. 13th at 10 a.m., the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center will host an interactive educational program using the book, “The Christmas Tree Ship” by Jeanette Winter to explore this Great Lakes story.

This event is great for kids grades kindergarten to 5th.

During the event, people will listen to a reading of “The Christmas Tree Ship,” Engage in actual historical research of the schooner Rouse Simmons, including newspaper reports, enrollment documents, historic photos, and underwater footage, as well as create a holiday ornament to take home

The museum’s exhibits will be open so people can explore the life-size schooner replica, discovery cart, scuba tubes, and check out the special viewing of “Stranger in the Woods” playing in the theater all day. There will be free popcorn and hot chocolate available.
