The 2026 Thunder Bay International Film Festival is a go

Thanks to the generous support of those who have already committed to this year’s Thunder Bay International Film Festival, next year’s event is a go.

The local sponsors for the event makes it possible for the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary to showcase more than 50 world-class ocean and Great Lakes films across northeast Michigan–and to share at fun student sneak-peek screenings as well.

The 2026 festival kicks off in Rogers City on Jan. 21, continues in Harrisville on Jan. 22, and then settles into the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center in Alpena for a full weekend of film and celebration.

Attendees can look forward to receptions, competitions, filmmaker panels, and plenty of opportunities to connect and be inspired.

The museum’s staff is looking forward to highlighting its sponsors throughout the festival and are pleased to offer all-access Thunder Passes to our Thunder Bay Stars and above. If you or your organization would like to join our sponsor lineup, please contact us at friends@thunderbayfriends.org
