Jane Austen events planned at library and ACC

The Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library and the Alpena Community College Library are partnering to host events to celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th birthday. There will be a trivia night at PIF Cider, indoor croquet games, card games, an educational session and more.

“We are excited to work with ACC’s Library to present these programs and hopefully we can each gain new library users,” shared Assistant Director Jessica Luther, “Jane Austen is exceedingly popular among so many different age-groups; Lauren Mantlo and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to team up.”

Activities are scheduled at both locations beginning on November 11th.

– Nov. 11, from 3-4 pm there will be indoor croquet at the ACC Library.

– Nov. 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. there will be Jane Austen trivia at PIF Cider Taproom.

– Nov. 17 from 10-11 am people can Learn to Play Whist at the ACC Library.

– Dec. 2 5-6 pm, Jane Austen’s Sanditon: From Unfinished Swan Song to British Costume Drama at the Alpena County Library.

– Dec. 16 from 1-5 pm, people can celebrate Jane’s birthday with tea and cake at the Alpena County Library.
