There was such an outpouring of donation and monetary gifts from the community that The Salvation Army wants to make sure all youth in Alpena go to school with new undergarments. They are adding another day to their previous distribution dates.
"We know there are families that may not have heard about the distribution or was busy during the available days. Children need to feel comfortable in a classroom situation, so they are more receptive to learn. Having clean comfortable clothing does just that," Major Prezza Morrison said. "Parents and guardians need to know there is somewhere they can receive these essential items when they are on a fixed income."
The next distribution day is Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 1 to 5 p.m. for anyone who needs these items. Parents/guardians need to bring proof of student, school, and grade. Please contact our office at 989-358-2769 if you have any questions concerning distribution day or required information. Last year we served over 140 families with 850 items distributed to families. More information will also be posted on The Salvation Army of Alpena Facebook page.
