Benalli Gabara, a 13-year-old Alpena entrepreneur and founder of Cosmic Shaved Ice has his dream come true of taking his concession trailer to the Alpena County Fair this week.

Cosmic Shaved Ice specializes in authentic Hawaiian shaved ice straight off the block, fresh squeezed lemonade, and the best of both worlds in a cosmic shaved ice lemonade.

A multitude of flavors too long to list and even offers sugar-free options for those with dietary limits. Benalli’s business stems from his love of inventing new things, helping others, and all things food related. The success of his business he attributes to a great customer experience, great customer service, all at a reasonable price.

The business idea came from a wrestling meet downstate and numerous stories from his late great-grandfather Red Crittenden, who told Benalli countless stories of his youth experiences working his father’s carnival.

With the help of his parents, Benalli was able to purchase his concession trailer, remodel it, and put it in service, which is typically located near Starlight Beach next to Pompeyos. Benalli continues to work hard and believes in giving back to the community.

A portion of all Cosmic Shaved Ice sales are donated to a local non profit “Support our Youth”.
