ALPENA–The United Way of Northeast Michigan is happy to announce Sheryl and Steve Wright as the Chairpersons for the 2020-2021 Campaign.

Sheryl and Steve have been married for 30 years and have two adult children. They are both employed with Midwestern Broadcasting, WATZ Radio, Inc. and have a combined 72 years of service with the company.

Both have resided in Northeast Michigan most of their lives and are involved in numerous youth programs and enjoy being involved in community organizations that benefit the area. They also enjoy living on their small hobby farm in Alpena County.

The Wrights said they are honored to be co-chairs for this year’s United Way campaign for Northeast Michigan.

“Even though this is a very challenging time for our community, we believe that now is the time for us to step up and try to make a difference,” the Wrights said in a press release from the United Way. “Our world, our lives, our families and businesses have been upended in a way that none of us could have imagined. As we re-open, recover, heal, and adapt to a new way of living, our lives and regaining much of what we lost, agencies and organizations will rely on funding and support from the United Way more than ever. These groups will be a big part of getting our lives back on track. This is a very challenging time for our community but together we can make it better.”

Author Howard Schultz wrote, “In times of adversity and change, we really discover who we are and what we are made of.”

“That kind of says it all and why we want to help the United Way of Northeast Michigan meet its goal this year” concluded the Wrights.

United Way will kick off its 2020-2021 campaign from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24 with a free drive through lunch in the parking lot located behind City Hall, accessed from Water Street. Lunches will be provided on a first come first serve basis and will be available while supplies last.
