Second Chance Animal Shelter holding kitten adopt-a-thon/bottle drive Saturday

Second Chance Animal Shelter will hold a kitten adopt-a-thon and can and bottle drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kadrich Family Chiropractic building, located at 1015 U.S.-23 North.

The kittens have been fostered by families locally and are very social. Shelter staff encourage kittens to be adopted in pairs. Adoption fees are $65 per kitten or $100 for two kittens, although an additional refundable spay or neuter deposit is required at the time of adoption. Applications are available at Kadrich Family Chiropractic or at the event.

Kittens have been tested for feline leukemia virus, received age appropriate vaccines and come with a free spay or neuter certificate, courtesy of Switzer Veterinary Clinic and Sunrise Veterinary Services, to be used when the kitten is old enough for surgery.

Cans and bottles will be accepted to help with the costs associated with helping homeless and abandoned animals the shelter cares for.

The event will also feature several crafters and vendors in the outdoor parking lot to help people get started on their Christmas shopping. A bake sale and raffle basket will also be held.
