Kenneth and Joan Sumerix celebrate 65th anniversary
ALPENA — Kenneth and Joan Sumerix were married 65 years ago on March 1, 1958 in the Alpena Community of Christ Church.
A celebration was held in March at The 19th Hole and was hosted by their family as follows: Kim (Birte) Sumerix, Tammy (Terry) Bates, and Kendall (Melony) Sumerix. They have eight grandchildren: Stephanie (Jerrod) Villarreal, Nathan (Jess) Sumerix, Terry Bates, Tiffany Bates, Clorissa (Dan) Briseno, Andrew (Amanda) Sumerix, and Allen and Noah Sumerix. Great-grandchildren include Christopher (Hanna) Villarreal, Alex, Mason and Claire Villarreal, Austin and Hudson Sumerix, Avery and Easton Bates, Elliot and Isabelle Briseno, and Alaina Sumerix. Ken and Joan have two great-great-grandchildren: Bryson and Huntley Villarreal.
Members of their original wedding party that were in attendance were: Christine Schultz, Ethelene Lewis, Elizabeth Reynolds and Pianist Judy Christensen. A PowerPoint presentation of their lives was presented along with a questionnaire on interesting facts of their lives.
