Exchange Club of Alpena Historic Flag Field celebrates America’s 250 anniversary

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Exchange Club of Alpena is inviting the community to visit the Historic Flag Field displayed at the Alpena County Courthouse throughout the month of July.

According to an Exchange Club press release on Tuesday, the exhibit features one of every official U.S. flag design used during the nation’s 250 years of independence. Each flag includes an informational tag identifying the years it served as the official U.S. flag, along with historical highlights from that period in American history.

“We hope the display offers visitors an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s history while celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and America’s enduring legacy,” Bob Martin, club president, said in the release.

The Historic Flag Field is presented by the Exchange Club of Alpena as part of its commitment to the Exchange Club’s Pillar of Patriotism, the release stated. Patriotism is one of the National Exchange Club’s four Areas of Impact, alongside Youth Programs, Community Service, and the Prevention of Child Abuse.

“The display will remain up through July, and everyone is encouraged to stop by and enjoy this unique patriotic exhibit,” Martin added in the release.
