ALPENA – Alpena resident Celina Losinski, and her husband Barry Losinski, repainted the crucifix at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena last month. Celina Losinski said that she was contacted by the cemetery to work on the project because she had painted the Stations of the Cross at All Saints Parish “many years ago.”

Celina Losinski said that she doesn’t consider herself a professional artist, but that she paints because she enjoys the process.

“I painted the Stations of the Cross at All Saints many years ago,” she said. “It’s actually just a hobby. I don’t consider myself an artist, I just like to paint.

Celina Losinski said that she used a sandblaster to prep the statue and then primed it before it could be painted. She said that the painting process took 22 and a half hours, and the entire process took her and her husband from June 22 to 29 to complete.
