The Salvation Army distribution day
The Salvation Army has provided coats for families in Alpena County over “several years,” according to The Salvation Army press release. Last year, they served over 250 people with over 710 items. This year they are expecting an increase due to increased needs and financial concerns.
Distribution for 2025 will occur from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 at the church building across from the office. No items are needed for proof of need. The Salvation Army states they hope to serve all who attend, but it will depend on donations. Contact The Salvation Army with questions.
The Salvation Army continues to accept donations which include children’s coats, gloves, and scarfs. New or clean, gently-used items are accepted. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Monetary donations are accepted by mail or in person at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center at 722 2nd Avenue. Individuals can also give monetary donations at salmich.org/alpena or by calling Major Prezza Morrison at (989) 358-2769 Ext. 12.
