ALPENA — A group of friends and family honored Mary Ann Brousseau with a 104th birthday celebration on Sept. 24 at The 19th Hole in Alpena.
Attendees included members of the former St. Bernard’s Altar Society, the women who held church rummage sales, Christmas bazaars and other fundraisers to pay for items purchased to beautify their church.
With the merger of the four parishes, the ladies don’t get to see each other as often, so they decided to gather for dinner once or twice a year in the months when they can get home before dark.
The Sept. 24 event was their last gathering before winter and it was especially meaningful as they celebrated Brousseau’s birthday.
