ABC Alpena’s Bird Center sanctuary fundraiser

Courtesy Photo Sue Zybytowski is seen with a peacock art piece that she won at the ABC Alpena's Bird Center sanctuary fundraiser on Sunday, which was hosted at Samantha's on 2nd. Ashley Kolnowski, founder and president of the sanctuary, said the peacock was donated for the event and attendees bought raffle tickets to put into a drawing to win the art piece.

ABC Alpena’s Bird Center sanctuary hosted a fundraising event at Samantha’s on 2nd on Sunday to support food costs, medical costs, and housing needs and repairs, according to Ashley Kolnowski, the sanctuary’s founder and president. The sanctuary takes injured and displaced birds and rehabilitates them so Kolnowski can release them back into the wild.

In total, Kolnowski said 55 people showed up to the event and sanctuary made about $1,800 in total with food sales, ticket sales, and donations.
