ALPENA — Downtown Alpena will hold annual sidewalk sales today and Saturday. Over a dozen local businesses will line the sidewalks with special deals, discounts, and promotions for shoppers to enjoy.

Throughout both days, participating retailers will bring merchandise outside, offering markdowns and one-of-a-kind finds to celebrate the end of summer.

“It’s always exciting to see so many people out enjoying everything downtown has to offer,” said Allie Urlaub, marketing intern with the Alpena Downtown Development Authority. “Sidewalk Sales really bring the community together, and there’s no better time to shop local and show your support for small businesses.”

Participating businesses include The Local Basket Case, Cabin Creek Coffee, Sweet Baby James, Traveling Ladders, Glik’s, Bolenz Jewelry, Colburn Outfitters, Emery Enterprises, Presque Isle Farm Cider, Suncatchers, Parallel 45 Books and Gifts, Calia’s EmPURRium, Mana Wellness, Birch Hill Grocery Myers’ Fashions Etc., Noise and Toys, and Rusty Petunias Marketplace.

Customers should check the hours of each participating business, but most are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
