ALPENA — While visiting her Nana and Poppa over the Fourth of July holiday, 12-year-old Mackenzie Lepisto collected, painted, labeled and constructed a colorful USA rock map using stones found along the Lake Huron shoreline at Morris Bay on Lappan Road.
Mackenzie is a gymnast, avid reader, volleyball player, and she fosters cats and kittens as a trained ASPCA volunteer. When she and her brother, Landon, visit their Nana and Poppa’s camp in Alpena, they visit and play with the cats and kittens at the Huron Humane Society.
Her Nana and Poppa are Brenda and Larry Lepisto of Alpena. Mackenzie and her parents, Douglas Lepisto and Kristyn Buhl-Lepisto, along with brother Landon and her dear cat Mister, reside in Kalamazoo.
