Author Sue Harrison to visit Alpena library Sept. 13

Sue Harrison's book, "Rescuing Crash: The Good Dog" will be a topic of discussion when she visits the Alpena County Library on Saturday, Sept. 13.

ALPENA — Upper Peninsula author Sue Harrison will be sharing her children’s book, “Rescuing Crash: The Good Dog,” at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Alpena County Library. Geared towards ages 9-12, “Rescuing Crash” is the story of 11-year-old Britta, her father, and Crash, an Australian Shepherd adopted from the local animal shelter. Harrison explores the sadness and confusion of a child abandoned by a parent, the unique bonds between fathers and daughters, and the healing connections to be found in adopting a rescue animal.

Books will be available for purchase.

Harrison is the author of seven critically acclaimed, bestselling novels, including the “Ivory Carver Trilogy,” the “Storyteller Trilogy,” and her first middle-grade novel, “SISU.” Her most recent novel is “The Midwife’s Touch,” published in 2023, and was named a 2024 Upper Peninsula Notable Book. Harrison lives in Pickford, Michigan, with her husband, a retired high school principal, and their mini-schnauzer, Tiffany.
