~ A women’s cancer support group meets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in the lobby of the Alpena Cancer Center. This safe, confidential, peer-to-peer support group welcomes women with a past or present cancer diagnosis.

~ New Life Christian Fellowship will host Mystery Island Vacation Bible School (VBS) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, for children ages 5 to 12. Each evening will start with a free meal. Registration can be done in advance online or by calling the church at 989-354-0095. Kids will go on an adventure full of songs, crafts, games, and prizes in their search to discover and learn to trust the one true God. The church is located at 317 S. Ripley Blvd., Alpena.

Wildlife rehabilitators will share fascinating facts and introduce you to live birds of prey during this free educational program.

Peer Buddies will help participants navigate the collection, build literacy skills, and learn to love reading. Peer Buddies need to be in fourth grade or higher. This Fireside Theatrics play stars Kendra Neumann, Morgan Suszek and Tyler Wolfrom, and contains strong language and some adult themes. ~ Join the Presque Isle Township Museum Society from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday for a day of fun family activities at the New Presque Isle Lighthouse, 4500 E. Grand Lake Road, Presque Isle. There will be free activity stations including yard games, sidewalk chalk art, a Story Walk of Lighthouse Keeper’s Catastrophe sponsored by the Friends of Grand Lake Library, a scavenger hunt, refreshments, and temporary tattoos. Organized fun kids’ games including replays and water balloon toss will be held at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Kids and adults can try their skill at tossing their cookies from the top of the lighthouse at 2:30, with cookies provided. Members of the Museum Society are picking up the cost of the climb fee for kids (12 and under) when accompanied by a paying adult ($6) during the event. ~ The Presque Isle Township Museum Society will rededicate the fully restored S.T. Crapo Lifeboat at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at New Presque Isle Lighthouse Park, 4500 E. Grand Lake Road. The vessel has recently undergone a 10-month restoration by a dedicated group of volunteers with donations by local businesses.
