Used book sale Friday at MyMichigan Medical Center

MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena will host a used book sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday in the lobby of the hospital, open to the public. MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena is located at 1501 W. Chisholm St., Alpena.

Hunter education June 9-14 at Alpena Sportsmen’s Club

Registration is open for a hunter education multi-day course at Alpena Sportsmen’s Club June 9 through 14. This is an in-person class for all ages, starting at 6 p.m. sharp Monday through Thursday, so please be in your seat and ready to go. Saturday range day starts at 9 a.m., so be in your seat and ready on time. Range day is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather. If you have eye and hearing protection, bring it with you. The bugs can be bad sometimes so don’t forget the bug spray.

Classes will be held at the Sportsmen’s Club, 4260 M-32, Alpena. Students younger than 10 will need to be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or another adult approved by a parent or legal guardian.

Aid by the Dozen held May meeting

The May meeting of the Aid by the Dozen was held on My 21 at the 19th Hole.

Mariette Jore served as hostess. The monthly donation went to Friends Together.

Secret pal gifts were many: Sherry Allen, Carole Kelley, Kim Mischley, Chris Dubey, and Geri Skiba. Nancy Belanger won the cake raffle, and Leora Jacobs won the hostess gift. Jore passed out gifts to all and served a delicious dessert.

The next meeting will be held on June 18 at the 19th Hole, with Dubey as hostess.

Alpena Duplicate Bridge winners announced

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club results have been announced for this week, with Marcy Sherman and Linda Clegg in first place, Loretta Reynolds and Jackie Kennedy in second place, and Marge French and Judie Vivian in third place.
