Memorial Day activities on Monday

In Alpena, Memorial Day activities include flower placements at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the Alpena County Courthouse, followed by a parade to Washington Park where a wreath will be thrown on the river and then proceed to Little Flanders Field for the laying of wreaths for each conflict during the main ceremony at 11 a.m.

Northeast Michigan Artists Guild meets Wednesday

Card-making class June 2 at Grand Lake library

The Grand Lake branch of Presque Isle District Library will host a card-making class at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 2. Jan Antecki will lead the class in making beautiful nautical-themed cards.

The cost is $6 to make three cards, and the class is limited to nine participants.

The library is located at 18132 Lake Esau Hwy, Presque Isle.

Chamber hosting GMDA June 5

The Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce will host its next Good Mid-Day Alpena on Thursday, June 5 on the roof deck at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, 500 W. Fletcher St., Alpena. This is an outside venue.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the program at noon.
