ALPENA — “Amazing” is too small of a sentiment to describe the 581 ice fishing enthusiasts who participated in the Dave Hillert Memorial Hubbard Lake Classic fishing tournament that was held on Feb. 15.

People near and far (including Dave’s grandchildren) registered to bring in the biggest perch and walleye with a top prize of $5,000 in each category.

Many outstanding businesses sponsored this event.

Proceeds from registration, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and cash were donated to Friends Together in memory of Dave Hillert. Event organizers T.J. and Michelle Hoes, Romeo Bourdage, and Deb Hillert presented an outstanding donation of $18,100 to Julie Gilmet of Friends Together.

Friends Together extends a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make this day spectacular.
