Salvation Army accepting applications for Christmas toys and food
ALPENA — Christmas is coming, and many feel unprepared. They are concerned about where the funds are going to come from their already tight budget. The Salvation Army is here to assist those who are concerned about providing a Christmas to remember. The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Sign-Up for families and individuals living in Alpena County is coming up on Wednesday and Thursday. Applications are being taken at The Salvation Army Church, located at 722 N. 2nd Ave., Alpena from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday.
All applicants need to bring a picture ID of the applicant with an Alpena County address, some form of ID for all others in the household, such as birth certificate, school ID, or Medicaid card, proof of all income in the household such as a paycheck stub, DHHS documents, or Social Security benefits documentation.
They will receive a food basket with enough food for a holiday dinner and more, and gifts for children in the family ages newborn to 17 years old only.
