Habitat for Humanity receives $29K grant from Lowe’s for home repairs
ALPENA — Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan has received a $29,186 grant from Lowe’s to help repair eight homes in Alpena and the surrounding areas.
The funding will support Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan’s efforts to make homes safer and healthier and create stronger communities. With the grant’s support, Habitat could install a new roof and three wells, complete an electrical upgrade, insulation, a handicap-accessible bathtub, and one window and one door. This grant helped eight families remain in their homes without the financial burden and stress of not knowing what to do.
“We are so appreciative of this generous grant from the Lowe’s Foundation,” said Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan Executive Director Ted Fines. “Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan prioritizes offering these critical home repairs, upgrades, and modifications to our qualified community members.”
The funding from Lowe’s is part of a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International to support home repair and preservation efforts in owner-occupied homes. This year, funding will enable 110 local Habitat affiliates to complete 295 projects and impact nearly 700 families across the U.S. Since 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have worked together to help more than 18,000 people build or improve a place to call home.
Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan has provided hope for individuals, couples, and families to secure stable and affordable housing and achieve financial independence for over 35 years.
