Be a positive example to others
Senior Attitudes
As I was writing my opening line “What is hope if not the decision to shine light into the dark,” my son read the paragraph and wrote his own. “Hope is a dancer at the strip club in Detroit.”
I might have been mad if I stopped laughing. This is an important part of family life. We need to laugh, cry, hug, and be there for each other. This is strong in a senior’s life because all we can pass down that is visible to our younger family members is the way we treat others. If we treat others as a great man named Jesus said, we should treat others as we wish to be treated. If we do that, others, mainly our families, will observe and learn. We must be an example. An example may be our final gift to our families.
What do you remember from your grandparents? Hugs, kisses, and playing cards is what I remember. I also recollect negative racial stereotypes that they didn’t even realize were offensive. Hopefully, my generation has learned better.
I love my children and love it when they ask me for a baby quilt as a gift for someone who needs it I love it when I see the generosity and love they have for others. I am a content old lady (who is still up for shenanigans). I wish the same for all of you.
