Alpena Domino’s, Fire Department team up for Fire Prevention Week

ALPENA — Alpena Domino’s, located at 650 N. Ripley Boulevard, and the National Fire Protection Association are teaming up with the Alpena City Fire Department to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12).

At noon on Tuesday, Oct. 8, anyone who orders a Domino’s pizza may be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives accompanied by a fire engine. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, their order is free. If the smoke alarms are not working, the firefighters will replace them or install new batteries.

“Fire safety is essential,” said Matt Mckelvie, Alpena Domino’s franchisee. “We’re very excited to partner with NFPA and the fire department again for a program that not only promotes the safety of our friends and neighbors but rewards those who prioritize fire safety.”

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!”

“Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries,” said Andy Marceau, deputy chief and community risk reduction captain of the Alpena City Fire Department. “The good news is that you can prevent most cooking fires and burns with some simple but effective tips that we hope to share through our partnership with Domino’s.”

Customers can call Alpena Domino’s at 989-394-6700 to place their order and be eligible for fire engine delivery.
