Lighthouse Baptist to host VBS in the evening Aug. 12-16

ALPENA — Lighthouse Baptist Church presents “Growing in God’s Garden,” a Vacation Bible School program for all ages from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 12 to 16.

Special guests Evangelist Dennis Regling and his wife Karen and their twin daughters will be using amazing optical illustrations, hilarious puppets, outrageous games, cool prizes, and fun music to teach Bible lessons and encourage everyone in attendance.

The program is designed to be entertaining and motivating for all ages, and families are invited to attend together. Children age 6 and older may attend without a parent. The event will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 7420 U.S.-23 North (about five miles north of Alpena, on the corner of U.S.-23 and Long Lake Road).

ALPENA — The Poetics Lab presents Friends, Food, and Free Verse from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. This open mic event will be hosted by Friendly Foodees, 108 N. 3rd Ave., downtown Alpena.
