Linda Beeman, the museum’s 2023 Juried Art Exhibit winner, will showcase her talents in a solo exhibit. The second exhibit will be the 2024 Juried Art Exhibit, featuring the works of many area artists.

Beeman’s exhibit, titled “The Japan Collection,” will be up at the museum from Aug. 10 through Oct. 30.

Beeman is a lifelong Michigan resident and an award-winning, environmental printmaker. Through the non-toxic water-based Japanese process of mokuhanga (woodblock prints), Beeman is able to capture the subtleties of color and tone unavailable in other media to represent the common beauty of rural landscapes, lakes, rivers, wetlands, and waterfalls found in her travels. Beeman’s detailed prints have garnered top awards in juried competitions and her work can be found in private and corporate collections around the world. Known for both the precision of her carving and her subtle, quiet colors, Beeman’s prints transport the viewer to a place worth knowing and protecting.

“I am taking you to a destination, a secret place that you can experience and will want to know personally,” Beeman said in her bio. “Creating a sense of stillness, peace, and shelter … the journey awakens you to the vulnerability of our natural spaces. The significance of protection is stimulated and the rarely noticed or hidden becomes elevated to the sacred.”

The opening reception for both of these exhibits is from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. This is a free open house event.

The event will feature the announcement of the winners of the 2024 Juried Art Exhibit. Attendees will be able to meet and talk with Beeman and other artists in attendance.
