HUBBARD LAKE — The 20th Bi-Annual Kauer Family Reunion was held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Hubbard Lake Lions Club Park.

The 83 descendents of Moritz and Anna Kauer came from Wyoming, Wisconsin, and many parts of Michigan. The group gathered at noon and shared a potluck dinner at 1 p.m. after a prayer.

A balloon ceremony was held for eight family members who passed from this life into the next life. They were: Dan Kempf, Marvin Ritthaler, Paul Michael Adhern, Morris George Cooper, Beverly (Marks) Schooltz, Judy (Ritthaler) Schiller, Karen Kleve, and Ronald Raymond Schultz.

A silent auction was held to raise funds for the next reunion. Prizes were given to the oldest person there, Bertha Gerke, 93 years old, and the youngest person there, Colton Swafford, 2 years old. A prize was also given to the person who traveled the longest distance to come to the reunion. The prize went to the Dan Liske family who came from Wyoming. Drawings for adult and child door prizes were won by Pam Timm and Lucy Schultz.

A committee was elected to handle the next reunion scheduled for the Saturday after the 4th of July in 2026.
