The Sunrise Gardening Club also invites you to attend a presentation by Janet Macunovich and Steven Nikkila on Thursday, Aug. 1, titled “Great Summer Gardens Keep the Color Going.”
In summer, what really counts toward a good looking, colorful garden are great plant combinations and great gardening tricks. It’s not just the plant species and varieties that you use for neat form and interesting foliage, but how well you “tweak” it all to extend, delay, and coax repeat bloom.
Janet and Steven have over 40 years of gardening experience. They stretched it in the off-season in the form of writing, teaching, and illustrating, publishing, and broadcasting. They estimate they have worked in over 900 gardens. They’ve written gardening Q&A for a major newspaper, hosted several years of talk radio, ran a gardeners’ school for 12 years, and accepted speaking engagements in far flung places. Visit their website at gardenatoz.org
The presentation will be start at 6:30 p.m. at the Alcona Township Hall, 5576 U.S.-23, Black River, on the northeast corner of U.S.-23 and Black River Road.
Admission is free. Donations are appreciated. Refreshments will be provided.
