Special guests coming to Temple Beth-El
ALPENA — It is with great pleasure that Temple Beth-El welcomes back dear friends from Israel, Rabbi Maya and Menachem Leibovich. On Saturday, July 20, they will lead another joyous Shabbat service at TBE. Rabbi Maya, who graduated from the Hebrew University in Tel Aviv with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, holds the distinction of being the first Israeli-born female to be ordained as a Rabbi in Israel. She authored and edited many publications interpreting Jewish theological texts. After a stellar rabbinic career at Kehilat Mevasseret Zion in Israel, she retired in 2013. Temple Beth-El is grateful to Temple B’nai Israel of Petoskey, who have hosted Rabbi Maya and Menachem for the past 10 summers, for sharing them with Alpena again this year.
Temple Beth-El invites you to join Rabbi Maya, Menachem, and their congregation on Saturday, July 20. Seating is limited, so please call 989-595-3544 to let Temple Beth-El know you are coming and for further information. This Guest Rabbi program is funded in part through the generosity of the Ravitz Foundation Initiative for Michigan Small Jewish Communities and Temple Beth-El members and friends.
