Alpena County Library summer reading program kicks off Saturday

ALPENA — The Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library is thrilled to announce the launch of its annual summer reading program, themed “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” This summer, the library invites readers of all ages to embark on a thrilling journey filled with books, activities, and events designed to inspire a love of reading and exploration.

Program Highlights:

¯ Fun — Join the library for the kickoff celebration this Saturday with an appearance at 1 p.m. by Clark Lewis: Rogue Showman Circus Rock Show! The show will include juggling, daring stunts, a sideshow, magic, and comedy, set to a rock soundtrack.

¯ Exciting Learning Challenges — Participants can earn book bucks and rewards by completing reading challenges and activities. Track your progress online or with reading logs available at the library.

¯ Interactive Programming — From story times and game nights to craft workshops and constellation parties, there’s something for everyone. Check the library’s calendar for a full schedule of events.

¯ Prizes — All participants will receive a book from the Friends of the Alpena Library just for signing up. At the end of the program, participants will be eligible for exciting prizes and can vote on community prizes that everyone who uses the library can enjoy!

“Our theme this year, ‘Adventure Begins at Your Library,’ aims to spark curiosity and encourage lifelong learning through the magic of stories and adventures,” said Debra Greenacre, Library Director at the Alpena County Library. “We’re excited to offer a diverse range of programs that cater to all age groups, ensuring that everyone can find their own adventure at the library this summer.”

The Summer Reading Program kicks off on Saturday and runs through July 27.

Registration is free and open to all community members.
